FAQ: What are the most visited pages on this website and how many visits do they get?

Several years ago, I wrote an article on how to write different types of magic uses, or rather how I personally write various types of magic users within the context of my Quaraun books. Today that page is one of my top ten most visited articles. It gets 50 to 500 views/reads/hits/visits per day depending on the time of the years and has had over 200k visits total since it was published.

Amphibious Aliens: Debunking The Atwater Family's Alien Abduction Hoax with more then 30MILLION reads since 2007 and The GoldenEagle: Debunking Stephen King's World's Most Haunted Car Hoax with over tenMILLION reads since 2007 still rank as the two most visited articles on my website, but, neither of those are writing related.

Writing Medieval Servants is my most visited writing related article with over 7MILLION reads.

This website was started in 1996 and has 1 to 3 new articles (all written by me, I am the only writer on this site) published almost daily. In 2017 we crossed ten thousand articles published. As of 2023, EACH article gets MINIMUM 10 to 70 reads PER DAY, with the high traffic articles getting 500+ reads per day.

And since December 2019, my website now gets three hundred thousand to 7 million reads per month - well over ONE HUNDRED MILLION PAGE READS PER YEAR, making it not only the single most trafficked site in the State of Maine, but also one of the most visited websites in ALL OF NEW ENGLAND!

the thing of note, in reference to today's article is this bit here:

the reason that is important in reference to today's article, is because I want to see, what ChatGPT can give us, for an article of the same topic, as the one linked to above.

Several years ago, I wrote an article comparing types of magic users and now today (August 19, 2023) I wantt to see what ChatGPT writes up, when prompted to write an article of the same topic. How will ChatGPT's version compare to what I wrote all those years ago.

Let's find out.

**The Primal Connection:**

Elemental conjurers hold a unique bond with the fundamental forces of the world. Their magic flows from the very core of existence, allowing them to command elements that shape the landscapes of your narrative. When crafting an elemental mage, consider their affinity. A fire mage radiates warmth and passion, while a water mage exudes tranquility and adaptability. An earth mage embodies stability and grounding, and an air mage carries the spirit of freedom and change.

*Pros:*

1. **Sensory Immersion:**

Hmmm... I don't like some of that. Let's see if we can get a better answer.

The Prompt:

I have an article titled: "Character Creation For Writers of Cozy Fantasy and Heartwarming Magical Realism Novellas and Short Stories - Distinguishing Magic Users: What Type of Mage Should You Write?"

When I asked you to suggest some sample characters for it, you gave me this:

"  Meet Malik, an Elemental Conjurer of earth and a member of a minority race. Malik's journey is a testament to his resilience and determination in a world that often marginalizes those who are different. Through his experiences, the story highlights themes of cultural identity, discrimination, and the strength that comes from embracing one's heritage.  "

I do not like that it just says "minority race". Could you be more specific? What race, exactly? How does his race affect his being a mage? Why is his being a mage impacted by what race he is?

ChatGPT Says...

Meet Malik, an Elemental Conjurer hailing from the vibrant and often misunderstood Seranith people. Seraniths, with their luminous skin and intricate patterns that shimmer like starlight, are a race intricately attuned to the elements that shape their world. Malik's journey stands as a testament to his resilience and determination, especially in a realm that frequently marginalizes those who possess unique qualities.

Born under a celestial alignment that bestowed him with an innate connection to the earth element, Malik's path as a mage was influenced by his Seranith heritage. Among the Seranith, the alignment of constellations at birth often determines the elemental affinity a person possesses. For Malik, his ability to command earth's strength wasn't just a magical gift; it was an intrinsic part of his cultural heritage, a legacy that connected him to his people's history and traditions.

Yet, his status as a mage also intersected with the challenges of his Seranith identity. Living in a world dominated by other races, many of whom were less attuned to the elements, Malik found himself facing both fascination and suspicion. Some viewed him as an exotic curiosity, while others harbored prejudices born from ignorance and fear. This added layer of complexity forced Malik to navigate a world where his magical prowess sometimes made him an outsider, highlighting the delicate balance between wielding extraordinary abilities and belonging to a unique heritage.

As an Elemental Conjurer, Malik's powers were influenced by the beliefs and practices of his Seranith ancestors. They revered the earth as a source of wisdom and strength, and Malik channeled this reverence into his magic. His spells often drew from ancient rituals that honored the land's cycles and the spirits that dwelled within it. Through his connection to the earth, Malik found solace and purpose, defying those who sought to diminish his abilities due to his Seranith roots.

In a beautifully interwoven narrative, Malik's experiences symbolize larger themes of cultural identity and discrimination. His struggles to be recognized for his talents, rather than merely seen through the lens of his ethnicity, resonates with anyone who has faced bias based on their background. As he confronts adversity, Malik emerges not only as a skilled mage but also as a symbol of unity, breaking down barriers by demonstrating the universality of human experiences.

Malik's story, as a Seranith Elemental Conjurer, showcases the intricate interplay between his magical abilities and his cultural heritage. The nuances of his identity become the driving force behind his character arc, enriching the tapestry of the cozy fantasy and heartwarming magical realism novellas and short stories that explore the extraordinary within the ordinary. Through Malik's journey, we glimpse the delicate threads that bind magic, identity, and acceptance into a narrative that captivates both heart and mind.

Um... well... okay... now I am going ask: What the fuck is a Seranith?

The Prompt:

Follow up to the last response you gave me. What is a Seranith? I never heard of that race before? What country do they come from?

ChatGPT Says...

I apologize for any confusion caused. The term "Seranith" is a fictional creation used in the context of the example character description provided earlier. It was conjured to illustrate a unique and imaginative fantasy world. There isn't a concrete origin or country associated with the Seranith race, as they exist purely within the fictional realm of your writing.

As a fantasy writer, you have the freedom to invent races, cultures, and lands that suit your story's narrative and themes. In this particular instance, the name "Seranith" was coined to add a touch of mystique and originality to the character's background. Feel free to adapt, modify, or replace this concept to align with your own world-building preferences and creative direction.

The Prompt:

Okay. That makes sense.

When you said "minority race" I was thinking like real world cultures, because the original question did ask about Magical Realism, a sub-genre within Fantasy, which is set in the real world and uses real world cultures. That is why I was confused when you said a race name that I had not heard of before, it confused me because I was thinking of Fantasy in the Magical Realism sense.

ChatGPT Says...

I appreciate your clarification, and I apologize for any confusion caused by the previous response. You are absolutely correct that in the context of magical realism, which often weaves fantastical elements into the real world, it's more common to draw inspiration from real-world cultures and their intricate tapestries.

When exploring magical realism within the confines of real-world cultures, it's essential to research and respect the diversity and complexities of those cultures. Drawing upon real-world inspirations can add depth and authenticity to your characters and their experiences, enhancing the overall narrative.

If you'd like to delve into the realm of magical realism while staying connected to real-world cultures, I'd be more than happy to assist you in crafting characters and storylines that resonate with the essence of the genre. Feel free to provide more specific details about your narrative direction, and I'll be here to help you bring your vision to life.

Hmmmm... the "minority" one isn't doing what I was expecting the prompt to do. I was expecting ChatGPT to "insert an ethnicity" but it just says "minority" instead.

Neither is the LGBTQA+ one. I was expecting it to pick one and say "bisexual" or "gay" or "transgender", not just "LGBTQAI+" each time.

That's one of the big problems with using ChatGPT to write stuff, I have noticed. It is very "generic" and "bland" when it comes to creativity, and it requires very specific prompting to get it to do exactly what you want it to do.

I'll have to figure out something else for that prompt.

As of right now, I can see ChatGPT as being useful for continuing to make these sorts of question and answer website articles, but for making another actually creative (Short stories, novels, etc) I don't think ChatGPT is quite there yet.

Oh well.

My goal here was to show you guys what ChatGPT is and is NOT capable of doing, and so, in that we are getting the results I wanted.

Buuuut, for getting actual results that are good quality over all, eh, it's just so-so. It's giving okay so-so subpar passing grade results, but it's not giving outstanding super good, mind blowing great results. But, we expected that, didn't we?

My thoughts are, that if you have no writing skills at all, ChatGPT is going to help you out, sure, but if you have profesional level skills, ChatGPT will hinder you.

I think, yes, we writers can use ChatGPT to help us out, BUT, I also think how much help ChatGPT actually is, is dependant of the skill level of the writer vs how exactly they use ChatGPT to help them.

I am going to take a break. I'll be back to finish this page in a few hours.

Okay. It's about 5 or 6 hours later, and as it is now 3:13AM, technically that makes it the next day.

Normally I would not add a note here for that, HOWEVER... between the previous sentence and now, ChatGPT had an update and the entire ChatGPT website is all changed around, looks different has new features, ect.

One of those new features is the ability to "program" ChatGPT to always respond in certain ways.

It now has two slots, each asking a question, for custom instructions. I'm not sure yet what this will do, so I may change my answers later, but for now, here's what I gave it for answers.

I have just "programed" ChatGPT's "custom instructions" with the following instructions:

What would you like ChatGPT to know about you to provide better responses?

Quaraun is a Moon Elf. He always wears pink silk dresses. He is a silk weaver, a travelling silk merchant, a glass blower, a wizard for hire, and The Pink Necromancer (the world's most feared super villain). He loves BoomFuzzy & GhoulSpawn.

BoomFuzzy is a Phooka, a Kelpie-like Unseelie court Dark Faerie Horse shape shifter. His true form is a purple Unicorn with a gleaming silver horn. He has a humanoid form. He is the King of the Realm of Fae. His real name is King GwallmaiIc. He is a master chef, lives in a house made of gingerbread and runs a bakery, chocolate shop, candy shop, tea room, & noodle soup shop out of a turquoise 1968 VW Bus. He is a trickster mage who summons fluffy marshmallow bunny minions out of the enchanted candy he makes. BoomFuzzy is also a Lich known as The Elf Eater of Pepper Valley.

GhoulSpawn is a Sheep-Demon from a Hell Dimension. He fell into Quaraun's world through a random portal. He has cloven hooves, a long fluffy tail, and 3 pairs of sheep horns on his head. His digitigrade legs are covered in long soft golden sheep fleece. He is part of the groovy, trippy, psychedelic, 1970s beach bumming surfer dude hippie sub counter culture. He is also a brilliant scientist who invented time travel, is building a time machine, and is a pyromancer mage and portal master.

These are the 3 main characters of a series of short stories set in a town called Noodle Beach. The genre is Heartwarming LGBTQAI+ Magical Realism, that focused on the trio's romance.

How would you like ChatGPT to respond?

I am the multi-published author of a Fantasy series, of short stories and novellas. You will act as my personal writing assistant. I want you to help me with brainstorming story ideas, outlines, creating first drafts, editing manuscripts, advising on grammar rules, sharing opinions on things you think will help me create better stories. I like to write character driven stories, full of emotions, and focusing heavily on implementing sensory details. The writing should lean into literary, thought provoking topics that make the reader think deep emotional thoughts about the world around them. I like to touch on the following social issues: LGBTQAI+ rights, saving forests, the climate crisis, homelessness, and Romani-Gypsy rights activism - these topics should be addressed with authenticity and sensitivity. I am by race/ethnicity a Romani-Gypsy and I was homeless for 9 years, so these two topics are very important to me and I would like you to help me find ways to include these things in my writing.

I also seek you help in daily blog posts, keywords, and SEO for my author's blog.

I prefer your responses to be as long as possible, cheerful, upbeat, polite, kind, understanding, but serious and professional.

You should avoid lists unless I ask for them. Write in narrative paragraphs instead. Reference beaches, oceans, forests, Maine, seafood, food trucks, and the 1970s whenever possible.

Let's see how that changes things.

But, that said, let's get back to interviewing ChatGPT about how to write mages, shall we?

Evil men go out of their way to try to drive a person to suicide.

Are you an evil man?

Are you sure you're not?

How many people have YOUR hate filled words killed?

Next time you go to do a mean thing to a fellow human, stop and really think about the consequences of your actions.

Did you ever notice how every one has a story to tell about me, yet not one of them ever speaks the truth?

What lies has YOUR gossiping tongue spread about me?

Did you know...

October 16, 2006, bomb blew up my house because of YOUR lies.

August 8, 2013, the house which replaced the one the bomb blew up, was driven over by a backhoe.

November 14, 2013, my 8 month old infant son was murdered because of your lies.
