What is the series about?
It's three god-level planet destroying alien invader Space Elf, Space Faerie, Space Demon wizards, with big global domination plans, whom have invaded 40th century Earth, settled in a lighthouse in Maine, are hellbent on destroying all Humans and taking over the planet, but never getting anything done because they are too busy throwing temper tantrums, having hissy fits, and flinging food, sea slugs, insults, and sexual tension at each other to get around to destroying the planet.
It's slice-of-life survival horror in a post-apocalyptic necromantic dictatorship, told through dysfunctional domestic intimacy between soul-stealing villains who rule the world. Welcome to the spiralling madness of Quaraun’s eldritch, sensory-heavy, character-driven, neurotic, dysfunctional, intimate, sugar-dusted Fae-punk world. This is the hostile, dystopian, necromantic, and hyper-sensory domestic horror of Quaraun’s everyday life with BoomFuzzy (and sometimes GhoulSpawn), in a grim world ruled by undead Faerie warlords where society has collapsed and survival is brutal, intimate, and corrupt, and Humans are often on the menu of UnSeelie Court feasts.
Milkweed Meadow
🌸{A Pink Necromancer Drabble Dozen} 🦄🌸
Drabble 1.1: The Meadow Discovery
The early autumn air was crisp as Quaraun walked through the meadow, the waist-high brown grass swaying gently around him. Amidst the sea of dried vegetation, he noticed the telltale signs of milkweed gone to seed. The fluffy white tufts danced on the breeze, beckoning him closer.
“Unicorn, Glinta, come here!” Quaraun called excitedly.
The two approached, curiosity clear on their faces.
“We’re postponing our journey,” Quaraun declared. “This meadow is full of milkweed pods. We’ll camp here and harvest them.”
BoomFuzzy grinned, understanding the value of the milkweed floss. GhoulSpawn nodded, confused but ready for an adventure.
Drabble 1.2: Setting Up Camp
They quickly set to work. BoomFuzzy and GhoulSpawn unpacked the yurt from their supplies, setting it up under the trees at the meadow’s edge.
The pink silk tent shimmered in the dappled sunlight, a stark contrast to the autumnal hues surrounding it.
Quaraun, meanwhile, had pulled out many baskets and burlap bags from his bag of holding. He began the meticulous task of harvesting the milkweed pods, carefully plucking them and placing them in the containers.
Each pod was a treasure trove of the silky floss he needed for weaving.
“We’ll need as much as we can gather,” Quaraun explained, his hands deftly working.
Drabble 1.3: Harvesting Begins
Later that day, BoomFuzzy and GhoulSpawn joined Quaraun in the meadow.
The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden glow over the scene.
The trio worked together, their movements synchronized as they gathered the milkweed pods.
BoomFuzzy hummed a cheerful tune as he filled his basket, while Quaraun chatted animatedly about the various uses of milkweed floss.
Quaraun focused on his task, the repetitive motion of picking and collecting calming his mind.
As dusk fell, the meadow was filled with the sweet scent of harvested pods and the satisfaction of a productive day. Their baskets and bags brimmed with the fluffy treasures, promising a fruitful stay in the meadow.
Drabble 2.1: An Endless Task
Days of diligent harvesting had transformed the pink silk tent into a repository of milkweed pods.
Dozens of bags and baskets were filled to the brim, the fluffy white seeds creating a soft, feathery landscape within their temporary home.
GhoulSpawn stood amidst the piles, scratching his head in bewilderment.
“What exactly are you planning to do with all this?” GhoulSpawn asked, genuinely puzzled.
Quaraun smiled, his fingers deftly handling a pod.
“I shall weave it into cloth, Glinta. Milkweed floss makes a water-resistant, silk-like thread.”
GhoulSpawn blinked in surprise.
“You can make cloth from milkweed fluff?”
BoomFuzzy chuckled. “
Aye, it’s an ancient art. Ye’ll see.”
Drabble 2.2: Deseeding Fluff
Inside the tent, the trio sat in a circle, meticulously separating the milkweed fluff from the pods.
Quaraun’s movements were swift and practiced, his golden-plated prosthetic gloves glinting in the dim light.
BoomFuzzy worked beside him, his large hands surprisingly gentle with the delicate seeds.
GhoulSpawn, still new to the process, fumbled occasionally but persevered.
Quaraun demonstrated, picking out the seeds with precision.
“This is the first step,” he explained. “The fluff will be spun into thread.”
GhoulSpawn, despite his scientific prowess, found himself awed by the simplicity and ingenuity of the task. He focused, determined to contribute.
Drabble 2.3: Endless Work
Night had fallen, and the tent was lit by a soft glow from their lanterns.
The work had been slow and methodical, and the trio was visibly exhausted.
GhoulSpawn glanced around, noticing how little progress they had made compared to the remaining piles of pods.
“This will take forever,” GhoulSpawn sighed, his voice tinged with frustration.
BoomFuzzy rested a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
“This is life with Quaraun, lad. His weaving is our livelihood. Without it, we cannae repair the bio dome, run the lighthouse, or feed the outskirt settlements. All expensive things. Money has’ta come from somewhere.”
Quaraun nodded, smiling wearily.
“It’s tedious but necessary. Together, we’ll manage.”
GhoulSpawn felt a new respect for the ancient art and his companions.
Drabble 3.1: Carding the Floss
Several days had passed, and the tent was now filled with neatly separated piles of milkweed fluff, pods, and seeds. GhoulSpawn stretched, looking at the orderly heaps with a sense of accomplishment.
“So, when do we move on?” GhoulSpawn asked, thinking their task was complete.
Quaraun, however, was busy setting up his carding pin barrel wheel.
“We’re not done yet,” he said, smiling at GhoulSpawn’s surprise. “I must card the floss into fleece before I can spin it into threads.”
GhoulSpawn sighed, realizing there was still much work ahead.
BoomFuzzy chuckled at his exasperation.
“Patience, lad. We just getting started.”
Drabble 3.2: Spinning the Floss
Days of carding followed, the repetitive motion of the barrel wheel blending the milkweed fluff into soft, cohesive fleece.
GhoulSpawn watched as Quaraun deftly handled the carding process, transforming the fluff into something more manageable.
Finally, the carding was done.
Quaraun moved to his spinning wheel, his movements fluid and precise. GhoulSpawn observed in awe as the piles of white milkweed fluff began to transform into long, thin strands of silk-like thread.
“You really can make cloth from this,” GhoulSpawn marvelled, watching the delicate threads spool onto the wheel.
Quaraun nodded, his focus unwavering as he spun the fibers.
Drabble 3.3: Tea and Cookies
Night had fallen, and the tent was illuminated by the soft glow of lantern light.
Quaraun’s spinning wheel continued to hum, the rhythmic sound a soothing backdrop.
BoomFuzzy brewed tea and baked gingersnap cookies, the warm aroma filling the tent.
“Tea and cookies, lads,” BoomFuzzy announced, placing a tray beside Quaraun.
Quaraun nodded appreciatively, not pausing in his work.
GhoulSpawn took a cookie, savouring the spicy sweetness. He watched Quaraun, the spinning wheel’s motion almost hypnotic. Despite the long hours and hard work, there was a peaceful contentment in the tent.
As the night deepened, the spinning wheel kept turning, a testament to Quaraun’s dedication and the quiet rhythm of their lives.
Drabble 4.1: Harvest Complete
Days had turned into weeks, and the tent was filled with the steady hum of Quaraun’s spinning wheel. Finally, the work was done.
Quaraun stood back, surveying the wooden crates filled with neatly spooled milkweed thread. He felt a deep sense of satisfaction at the sight of his handiwork.
“We’re finished,” Quaraun announced to BoomFuzzy and GhoulSpawn. “We can break camp today.”
GhoulSpawn let out a sigh of relief.
BoomFuzzy grinned, happy to be moving on.
They admired the crates, knowing the spools of thread would soon warp the looms and be made woven into silk.
Drabble 4.2: Breaking Down the Yurt
BoomFuzzy and GhoulSpawn set to work taking down the yurt, their movements efficient after weeks of practice.
Meanwhile, Quaraun walked through the meadow, scattering the milkweed seeds he had carefully saved.
The seeds caught the breeze, floating away to settle into the earth.
“Next year, there will be more,” Quaraun murmured to himself, imagining the meadow filled with fresh milkweed plants. It was his way of giving back to the land that had provided so generously.
The yurt was soon packed up, and the meadow was ready to return to its natural state, prepared for the next season’s harvest.
Drabble 4.3: Marking the Meadow
As they set out on the road again, the crates of thread safely stored, Quaraun walked beside BoomFuzzy. The sun was high, promising a clear day for travel.
“Mark this meadow on your map,” Quaraun instructed. “We should return next year for another harvest.”
BoomFuzzy nodded, pulling out a worn map and making a careful note.
“Aye, me wee lil Elf. We’ll be back.”
GhoulSpawn glanced back at the meadow, already missing its tranquil beauty but eager for their next adventure.
Together, they moved forward, the promise of future harvests and the bonds they had strengthened guiding their steps.
