What is the series about?
It's three god-level, planet destroying, alien invader Space Elf, Space Faerie, Space Demon megalomaniac super villain bumbling wizards, and their ship's crew (The UnSeelie Court) with big global domination plans, whom have invaded 40th century Earth, settled in a lighthouse in Maine, started a zombie apocalypse, are hellbent on destroying all Humans and taking over the planet, but are never getting anything done because they are too busy throwing temper tantrums, having hissy fits, and flinging food, sea slugs, insults, and sexual tension at each other, to ever get around to destroying the planet.
It's slice-of-life survival horror in a post-apocalyptic necromantic dictatorship, told through dysfunctional domestic intimacy between soul-stealing villains who rule the world. Welcome to the spiralling madness of Quaraun’s eldritch, sensory-heavy, character-driven, neurotic, dysfunctional, intimate, sugar-dusted Fae-punk world. This is the hostile, dystopian, necromantic, and hyper-sensory domestic horror of Quaraun’s everyday life with BoomFuzzy (and sometimes GhoulSpawn), in a grim world ruled by undead Faerie warlords where society has collapsed and survival is brutal, intimate, and corrupt, and Humans are often on the menu of UnSeelie Court feasts.

- IMAGE 1: The Pink Necromancer, Thullid Infested Moon Elf silk weaver, travelling merchant, & Royal Court Mage of The UnSeelie Court: Quaraun Swanzen on Noodle Beach. With his unhinged temper, his 12 foot long prehensile, venomous jellyfish tentacle hair, his deadly laser wand, and his inability to stay sober long enough to cast a spell properly, he is the most feared being in the known universe. Quaraun is literally a Space JellyFish (A Thullid) whom has taken control of the corpse of a dead Elf.
In the year 2525, a comet struck the Moon. Now, in 40th century Maine, Earth is frozen, the Moon is fractured, and UnDead Lobsters are a serious problem. And then there's Quaraun: The Pink Necromancer. Most feared super villain on Earth. Possibly the galaxy. Maybe ever. But all he wants is tea, silk embroidery, and a calm evening in his lighthouse.
- IMAGE 2: Master Chef Phooka turned Lich King of The UnSeelie Court: King Gwallmaiic aka BoomFuzzy the Unicorn with his 1968 VW Bus Beach Noodle Food Truck. He is king of the entire fucking planet. Defy him and he'll serve you as the main course of the next UnSeelie Court feast. The world's only known Unicorn, in his true form he is a tiny lilac coloured Shetland Pony with a gleaming silver horn. In his Lich form he is a blue crystal skeleton of a Friesian stallion.
BoomFuzzy, the Unicorn Lich King of the UnSeelie Court, is Quaraun's dead husband. Technically dead. Officially terrifying. Unofficially the best baker left in the apocalypse.
- IMAGE 3: The Satyr-like, mad scientist Sheep Demon: Gremorse Liore aka GhoulSpawn with his 1974 AMC Gremlin time machine. He is Quaraun's apprentice, and fast becoming the most powerful wizard in the universe.
GhoulSpawn, their brilliant, baffled companion, fell through time from 1978 and never found the way home. Now he juggles tech repairs, running from zombies, and being madly in love with the two most dangerous men of the apocalypse.

- Not seen here: Toobe: a deceptively innocent looking tiny flying silver metal orb that hoovers around GhoulSpawn, giving science reports and scanning for dangers, Toobe is a sadistically insane sentient AI from thirteen thousand years in the future, who is the real brains behind the plot of global domination.
A few hours ago, I wrote this:
Wind and Hematite on the Cliff
{A Pink Necromancer Story} — {NaNoWriMo 2024: Day 17}
And while I’m satisfied with how it came out, I got to think, what if it had had a different ending?
And so, here now, is basically the same story, probably set a few days later, as Quaraun, BoomFuzzy, and GhoulSpawn are creatures of habit and so do a lot of the same things each day, say a lot of the same phrases, eat the same foods, so it’s logical to see very similar things done and said by them.
So, here now is another day, on probably the same road, in a location likely only a few miles away, once again stopping beside the road to consult their map… and coming to a different ending:
You trust that nonsense over a map?
{A Pink Necromancer Story} — {NaNoWriMo 2024: Day 17}🦄🌸
{A Pink Necromancer Story} — {NaNoWriMo 2024: Day 17}
The cliff-side was desolate, lashed by an unforgiving wind that carried the scent of sea salt and decayed foliage. Jagged rocks jutted below, a deadly promise to anything that dared tumble.
Quaraun sat cross-legged on a threadbare pink blanket, the map spread over his knees. His silver hair whipped about his face, tangled in the wind. He traced the worn parchment with his gold fingers, lips pursed in concentration.
BoomFuzzy reclined against a boulder, his obsidian glass daggers resting across his lap. The blades gleamed as his deft hands polished them to a mirror shine.
“The wind’s talking, Love,” he said, his rich brogue cutting through the gale. “It’s nae a friendly whisper, aye?”
GhoulSpawn shivered, hugging himself. His caftan flapped around his furry legs.
“I don’t know how you two can sit still in this miserable cold. And I’m starving.”
BoomFuzzy chuckled, slipping a dagger into its sheath.
“There’s more spiced apple pies in the food satchel. Grab one.”
GhoulSpawn shot him a glare, but rummaged through the bag, retrieving the fragrant hand pies. He took one for himself and handed another to Quaraun, who wordlessly accepted it without looking up from his map.
“I cannot make sense of this blasted thing,” Quaraun muttered.
He tossed the map aside and reached into his satchel.
Out came a black sock stuffed with gemstones, a deck of oracle cards, and incense sticks. Selecting a hematite stone, he held it to his forehead, eyes closed. He arranged the remaining stones in a circle, placed the cards inside, and lit a eucalyptus incense stick. Its sharp, medicinal smoke curled into the icy air.
BoomFuzzy watched with an amused smirk.
“Goin’ tae ask the cards tae tell ye where tae go?”
Quaraun ignored him, shuffling the deck with practiced ease, spreading the cards before him. His gold hands trembled slightly, a rare crack in his composed demeanour.
GhoulSpawn munched his pie noisily.
“You trust that nonsense over a map?”
Before Quaraun could retort, the wind shifted. The air grew thick, sour with rot. A faint groan echoed across the cliff-side. BoomFuzzy stiffened, head tilting like a predator catching a scent.
“They’re comin’,” he whispered.
Out of the mist, a herd of shambling figures emerged.
The Dead.
The UnDead.
The Shambling UnDead.
A massive slow moving herd.
Mindless.
Souless.
They did nothing but shamble slowly across the globe.
They were easy to outrun, as they moved so very slowly. There were many types of UnDead. Many types of zombies. Most you could fight and defeat.
But not The Shambling Dead.
Crawling hands. Hopping feet. Heads uses their tongues to drag themselves along. Eyeballs rolling along on their own. The Shambling Ones defied any known standard of zombie logic. Nothing stopped them. Nothing defeated them. Splatter the brain, blow up the head, the body kept on going.
There was only running.
You ran from them, and prayed you ran fast enough to not be trampled under their feet, and rose up to join them.
Limbs bent unnaturally, faces frozen in grotesque expressions of death. Their feet scraped against stone as they stumbled closer.
“Time tae run!” BoomFuzzy barked, shoving his daggers into his belt.
Quaraun snatched the stones, cards, and incense, stuffing them haphazardly into his bag.
GhoulSpawn grabbed the satchel, fumbling with the pies.
Together they bolted down the narrow trail, their hurried breaths mingling with the moans behind them.
At a safe distance, GhoulSpawn panted.
“Why didn’t your cards predict the zombies?”
Quaraun glared, dusting ash off his pink robe.
“They did. You were too busy whining to listen.”
The End?
