What is the series about?
It's three god-level planet destroying alien invader Space Elf, Space Faerie, Space Demon wizards, with big global domination plans, whom have invaded 40th century Earth, settled in a lighthouse in Maine, are hellbent on destroying all Humans and taking over the planet, but never getting anything done because they are too busy throwing temper tantrums, having hissy fits, and flinging food, sea slugs, insults, and sexual tension at each other to get around to destroying the planet.
It's slice-of-life survival horror in a post-apocalyptic necromantic dictatorship, told through dysfunctional domestic intimacy between soul-stealing villains who rule the world. Welcome to the spiralling madness of Quaraun’s eldritch, sensory-heavy, character-driven, neurotic, dysfunctional, intimate, sugar-dusted Fae-punk world. This is the hostile, dystopian, necromantic, and hyper-sensory domestic horror of Quaraun’s everyday life with BoomFuzzy (and sometimes GhoulSpawn), in a grim world ruled by undead Faerie warlords where society has collapsed and survival is brutal, intimate, and corrupt, and Humans are often on the menu of UnSeelie Court feasts.
The Beacon Room at the Top of the Black Tower Lighthouse was Warm and Safe
The beacon room at the top of the Black Tower lighthouse was warm and safe, wrapped in a soft golden glow from the sweeping light. The rhythmic grind of gears turned steadily behind the glass walls, a soothing, predictable lullaby. The wind whispered against the panes, rattling gently but never forceful, a distant hum of the world outside.
Beyond the tower, the vast ocean stretched endlessly into the night, its dark waves rolling and shifting beneath the moonlit sky.
Quaraun settled into the farthest corner of the room, away from the beacon’s brightest reach, where the light dimmed and the shadows softened into a cozy twilight.
A thick nest of fur pelts, layered deep for warmth, cradled his frail body. The soft texture of the pink tussah silk pillows and the heavy woven blankets surrounded him, enveloping him in a cocoon of warmth and safety. He ran his fingers idly over the plush surface of a thick, woolen coverlet, taking comfort in its familiar softness.
BoomFuzzy, already curled beside him, shifted, settling into the nest with a quiet sigh. The Phooka was warm, always warm, a living source of heat that Quaraun instinctively leaned into. BoomFuzzy pulled one of the thick blankets over both of them, tucking it securely around Quaraun’s shoulders before wrapping his arms around him.
“Comfortable, Love?” BoomFuzzy murmured, his voice a deep, gentle rumble.
Quaraun nestled closer, resting his head against BoomFuzzy’s chest, listening to the slow, steady rhythm of his breathing. The familiar rise and fall was as calming as the waves below, a constant presence, grounding and reassuring. He could feel the soft wool of BoomFuzzy’s tartan kilt beneath his fingertips, the faint scent of cloves and cinnamon lingering in the fabric.
“Yes,” Quaraun whispered, his voice barely more than a breath. “I feel safe here.”
BoomFuzzy smiled, pressing a kiss against Quaraun’s temple.
“Good.”
The steady turning of the beacon cast long shadows across the room, moving in a slow, measured dance.
Light and dark, circling around them in an endless rhythm.
The faint creak of the tower’s frame, the distant sound of waves crashing against the cliffs far below, and the occasional call of a seabird, awakened by the lighthouse’s bright beam, all blended into a peaceful symphony of night sounds.
Quaraun closed his eyes, letting the warmth of the nest, the weight of BoomFuzzy’s arms around him, and the soft sounds of the lighthouse lull him into relaxation. He exhaled slowly, releasing the tension from his body, sinking deeper into the comforting embrace of the pelts and blankets.
BoomFuzzy ran his fingers through Quaraun’s long, silken hair, smoothing the delicate strands in slow, rhythmic strokes.
“Ya always so tense, me wee JellyElf,” he murmured. “Ya need ta rest.”
“I know,” Quaraun breathed. “I am trying.”
BoomFuzzy chuckled softly.
“Aye. I know.”
Outside, the wind picked up slightly, rustling through the trees at the edge of the marsh. The distant rustling of reeds swaying in the breeze was barely audible, a soft hush against the deeper roar of the waves. But up here, high above it all, there was no danger.
No one could reach them.
Nothing could sneak up on them.
The world stretched out below, vast and open, and Quaraun could see for miles in every direction. He took comfort in that.
The beacon turned.
Another soft creak of the gears.
Another slow sweep of light across the ocean.
BoomFuzzy’s breathing had slowed, deep and even, his body fully relaxed against Quaraun’s. His arms remained securely wrapped around him, protective even in sleep. Quaraun listened to the rhythmic rise and fall, focusing on the warmth, the steady heartbeat beneath his ear.
He felt the tension in his own limbs fade, his thoughts growing distant, unfocused, floating somewhere between wakefulness and dreams. He shifted slightly, pulling the blanket up to his chin, his fingers curling around the edge of the soft fabric.
The weight of it felt safe.
The lighthouse continued its steady watch over the sea.
Another turn of the beacon.
Another slow sweep of light.
The wind whispered.
The ocean sighed.
BoomFuzzy exhaled deeply, his breath warm against Quaraun’s hair.
Quaraun’s eyes grew heavier.
The world outside faded into a blur of soft sounds and shifting light.
The warmth of the nest, the gentle weight of BoomFuzzy’s arms, the lull of the turning gears — everything blended into a perfect stillness.
Safe.
Warm.
Loved.
Another slow sweep of the beacon.
Quaraun let himself drift.
And finally, he slept.
