What is the series about?

It's three god-level, planet destroying, alien invader Space Elf, Space Faerie, Space Demon megalomaniac super villain bumbling wizards, and their ship's crew (The UnSeelie Court) with big global domination plans, whom have invaded 40th century Earth, settled in a lighthouse in Maine, started a zombie apocalypse, are hellbent on destroying all Humans and taking over the planet, but are never getting anything done because they are too busy throwing temper tantrums, having hissy fits, and flinging food, sea slugs, insults, and sexual tension at each other, to ever get around to destroying the planet.

It's slice-of-life survival horror in a post-apocalyptic necromantic dictatorship, told through dysfunctional domestic intimacy between soul-stealing villains who rule the world. Welcome to the spiralling madness of Quaraun’s eldritch, sensory-heavy, character-driven, neurotic, dysfunctional, intimate, sugar-dusted Fae-punk world. This is the hostile, dystopian, necromantic, and hyper-sensory domestic horror of Quaraun’s everyday life with BoomFuzzy (and sometimes GhoulSpawn), in a grim world ruled by undead Faerie warlords where society has collapsed and survival is brutal, intimate, and corrupt, and Humans are often on the menu of UnSeelie Court feasts.

- IMAGE 1: The Pink Necromancer, Thullid Infested Moon Elf silk weaver, travelling merchant, & Royal Court Mage of The UnSeelie Court: Quaraun Swanzen on Noodle Beach. With his unhinged temper, his 12 foot long prehensile, venomous jellyfish tentacle hair, his deadly laser wand, and his inability to stay sober long enough to cast a spell properly, he is the most feared being in the known universe. Quaraun is literally a Space JellyFish (A Thullid) whom has taken control of the corpse of a dead Elf.

In the year 2525, a comet struck the Moon. Now, in 40th century Maine, Earth is frozen, the Moon is fractured, and UnDead Lobsters are a serious problem. And then there's Quaraun: The Pink Necromancer. Most feared super villain on Earth. Possibly the galaxy. Maybe ever. But all he wants is tea, silk embroidery, and a calm evening in his lighthouse.

- IMAGE 2: Master Chef Phooka turned Lich King of The UnSeelie Court: King Gwallmaiic aka BoomFuzzy the Unicorn with his 1968 VW Bus Beach Noodle Food Truck. He is king of the entire fucking planet. Defy him and he'll serve you as the main course of the next UnSeelie Court feast. The world's only known Unicorn, in his true form he is a tiny lilac coloured Shetland Pony with a gleaming silver horn. In his Lich form he is a blue crystal skeleton of a Friesian stallion.

BoomFuzzy, the Unicorn Lich King of the UnSeelie Court, is Quaraun's dead husband. Technically dead. Officially terrifying. Unofficially the best baker left in the apocalypse.

- IMAGE 3: The Satyr-like, mad scientist Sheep Demon: Gremorse Liore aka GhoulSpawn with his 1974 AMC Gremlin time machine. He is Quaraun's apprentice, and fast becoming the most powerful wizard in the universe.

GhoulSpawn, their brilliant, baffled companion, fell through time from 1978 and never found the way home. Now he juggles tech repairs, running from zombies, and being madly in love with the two most dangerous men of the apocalypse.

 - Art by Wendy Christine Allen.

- Not seen here: Toobe: a deceptively innocent looking tiny flying silver metal orb that hoovers around GhoulSpawn, giving science reports and scanning for dangers, Toobe is a sadistically insane sentient AI from thirteen thousand years in the future, who is the real brains behind the plot of global domination.

Dangerous Tides

🌸{A Pink Necromancer Drabble Dozen, featuring Etiole} 🦄🌸

Drabble 1–1.1:

BoomFuzzy stirred quietly in the lighthouse kitchen, the scent of brewing Moxie mingling with sea air.

Quaraun and GhoulSpawn, nestled under warm pelts, slept soundly.

BoomFuzzy’s grey dreadlocks shimmered in the dawn light as he hummed softly, pondering the season’s bounty.

“It’s horseshoe crab time at MoonSnail Cove,” he whispered, eyes twinkling.

He imagined their hard shells, the briny sweetness they’d bring to his new dish. He could already taste the delicate flavours he’d create. The tranquillity of the morning, the gentle waves, and the promise of fresh ingredients filled him with joy.

Today, he would cook with love.

Drabble 2–1.2:

Quaraun rose from the cozy bed, wrapping himself in a silk robe. He climbed the spiral stairs to the lighthouse’s top, each step echoing softly.

On the balcony, he breathed in the crisp, salty air. Below, Noodle Beach stretched out, its sand glistening in the first light. MoonSnail Cove lay serene, tide low, revealing clusters of horseshoe crabs.

The ocean shimmered, a canvas of gold and pink hues. Gulls called softly in the distance, their cries mingling with the gentle lapping of waves.

The world felt at peace, bathed in the calm embrace of the new day’s light.

Drabble 3–1.3:

After breakfast, the three friends descended the rocky cliffs, laughter echoing in the crisp morning air. Quaraun’s cane tapped rhythmically, while BoomFuzzy and GhoulSpawn joked about the day’s catch.

The lighthouse stood tall behind them, casting a protective gaze over MoonSnail Cove. The scent of seaweed and saltwater filled their lungs as they reached the beach, the sand cool beneath their feet.

“Let’s find the best horseshoe crabs!” BoomFuzzy exclaimed, eyes sparkling.

Quaraun smiled, feeling the sun’s warmth on his face, the rhythmic waves soothing his mind. Together, they wandered along the shore, enjoying the simple joy of friendship and the promise of a delicious feast.

Drabble 4–2.1:

As they wandered the shore, BoomFuzzy’s voice took on a spooky tone.

“Yis ken the legend of the cave?” he asked, glancing at GhoulSpawn.

Quaraun smirked, knowing what was coming. GhoulSpawn, intrigued, shook his head.

“Crystal Cave, submerged beneath these cliffs, houses an evil, mute Electric Eel MerMan,” BoomFuzzy began, his eyes twinkling with mischief. “He waits in the dark waters, hunting tourists. That’s why this beach is always empty.”

The wind picked up, sending a shiver through GhoulSpawn. The waves crashed ominously, the cave’s dark mouth barely visible.

“You’re joking.”

GhoulSpawn laughed nervously.

“Am I?”

BoomFuzzy’s grin was unsettling.

Drabble 5–2.2:

As they neared the cave, GhoulSpawn’s nerves grew. The entrance yawned like a beast’s maw, shadows dancing within.

Quaraun clutched his cane tightly, his silver hair fluttering in the breeze, eyes darting nervously.

BoomFuzzy, ever fearless, strode forward, gathering horseshoe crabs with practiced ease. His laughter echoed off the cliffs.

“Nothing to fear,” he chuckled, his voice steady. “MerMan or not.”

Quaraun shivered, glancing at the dark waters. BoomFuzzy’s immortal presence offered little comfort against the growing dread.

“Yis safe with me,” BoomFuzzy reassured, but his gaze lingered protectively on Quaraun.

The day was clear, serene, yet an unsettling chill hung in the air.

Drabble 6–2.3:

As they collected crabs, eerie sounds echoed from the cave, a low, haunting moan that sent chills through GhoulSpawn. Quaraun’s eyes widened, his grip on his cane tightening as he glanced nervously at the dark water. Shadows moved beneath the surface, rippling unnaturally.

“Did you see that?” GhoulSpawn whispered, his voice trembling.

Quaraun nodded, fear etched on his face.

BoomFuzzy sighed, though his eyes never left the water.

“Yer imaginations are wild,” he chided gently. “Etiole’s not here.”

But his reassuring tone wavered slightly. The air grew colder, the sense of dread thickening. BoomFuzzy’s confidence masked a growing concern for Quaraun’s safety.

Drabble 7–3.1:

Quaraun’s eyes caught a glint among the kelp. He carefully pulled a string of silvery black pearls from the tidal pool, their beauty mesmerizing. The air grew colder; the sky darkening with ominous clouds.

GhoulSpawn’s warning shout came too late.

With a terrifying roar, the MerMan lunged from the water, electric eyes blazing. His scaled, eel-like body twisted violently, and he snatched the pearls from Quaraun’s trembling hands.

Quaraun stumbled back, heart pounding, his cane slipping on the wet rocks.

BoomFuzzy and GhoulSpawn rushed to his side as the MerMan’s chilling presence loomed, the stormy sea echoing their rising fear.

Drabble 8–3.2:

The MerMan, silent and menacing, raised his shimmering silver arms. The sea obeyed his command, waves crashing violently. Storm clouds churned above, the air electric with tension.

GhoulSpawn and BoomFuzzy pulled Quaraun back, their hearts racing.

Undead lobsters, summoned by the MerMan, scuttled from the depths, claws snapping ominously. Lightning crackled, splitting the sky. A bolt struck inches from Quaraun, the blast throwing him off his feet.

“We’re in real danger!” GhoulSpawn shouted, eyes wide with fear.

BoomFuzzy’s expression hardened.

“Back to the lighthouse!”

As another bolt struck, the trio scrambled, the MerMan’s wrath echoing behind them, the storm’s fury intensifying.

Drabble 9–3.3:

The MerMan’s silent fury drove the ocean into a frenzied inferno. Waves towered, crashing with deafening force. The trio stumbled over jagged rocks, the tide rapidly swallowing the cove.

“Run!” BoomFuzzy yelled, his voice barely audible over the roaring sea.

Undead lobsters clawed at their feet, the cold, salty spray stinging their faces.

GhoulSpawn gripped Quaraun’s arm, pulling him through the rising waters. The beach was vanishing, angry waves crashing relentlessly.

Quaraun’s heart pounded, fear clawing at his chest.

The lighthouse, their sanctuary, seemed impossibly far.

As another monstrous wave surged, the MerMan’s electric eyes followed them, relentless and vengeful.

Drabble 10–4.1:

The MerMan’s wrath intensified, waves crashing with brutal force. BoomFuzzy’s quick thinking kicked in. He raised his hands, summoning his Frost Lich powers. Icy tendrils snaked out, freezing the water around the MerMan.

“Go! Now!” BoomFuzzy shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos.

Quaraun and GhoulSpawn scrambled over the treacherous terrain, the rising tide nipping at their heels.

The icy barrier held the MerMan momentarily, his electric eyes flashing with fury.

Navigating the slippery rocks, the friends made their way to higher ground.

As the ice began to crack, BoomFuzzy followed swiftly, the MerMan’s roars echoing behind them, promising relentless pursuit.

Drabble 11–4.2:

Heartbeats thundered in their ears as the friends raced against the encroaching tide, the MerMan’s furious cries echoing through the tumultuous air.

BoomFuzzy’s Frost Lich magic created brief barriers of ice, slowing their pursuer.

Quaraun slipped on wet stones, GhoulSpawn’s firm grip steadying him.

The lighthouse loomed ahead, a beacon of safety against the raging elements. They sprinted up the slick stairs, the MerMan’s electric presence close behind.

With a final burst of energy, they slammed the heavy door shut; the cave disappearing beneath the relentless waves. Silence fell, broken only by their gasping breaths.

Inside, warmth and relief washed over them as the storm raged on outside.

Drabble 12–4.3:
Back in the safety of the lighthouse, the trio gathered by the crackling fireplace.

Quaraun, BoomFuzzy, and GhoulSpawn nestled together under warm pelts, the tension of their ordeal melting away.

They shared quiet laughter, recounting their harrowing escape.

BoomFuzzy prepared a special dish with the horseshoe crabs, his skilled hands moving with practiced ease. The aroma of spices filled the air, mingling with the comforting scent of burning wood.

As they savoured the meal, a sense of peace settled over them. The flickering firelight danced on their faces, illuminating smiles of relief and gratitude.

Together, they had faced danger and emerged stronger, their bond deeper than ever.

Etiole:

Quaraun’s great-great-grandson. Youngest son of Sir Roderic (Lord of The Twighlight Manor), and youngest brother to The Dazzling Razzbury. Etiole’s mother was Lady Melneeva, an Eel Siren who is GhoulSpawn’s half sister by the same father but different mother.

Etiole was the main character of the series from 1978 through 2006, when the series was still known as The Twighlight Manor series and was not yet called The Quaraun Series.

I have not written a story featuring Etiole as a character, since “Love, Lust, Madness” in November 2006…until June 2024, when I started writing new stories about him for Medium.

Oddly, there are weird rumors throughout Maine, of people believing this character to be a real person, which, yeah, Google it, and you’ll see how deranged some people are about him. They even started calling my 1964 Dodge 330 “The Golden Eagle” after him, and claiming he haunts my car.

A real local man, did in fact model for several paintings I made of Etiole, in the 1980s, and he is the same homeless man I let sleep in my car at night.

For some unknown reason, locals have built up many wild conspiracy theories about the homeless man, dubbing hi8m “Etiole”, claiming he is a UFO alien, and some of them even make the claim that I was abducted by aliens!

Yeah, just Google “Golden Eagle EelKat’s Car” or “Etiole Amphibious Aliens” and you’ll see how deep down the rabbit hole fantasy prone delusional conspiracy theorists went with their rumours about this FICTIONAL character, that they believe to be a real cryptid/demon/alien/whatever.

Etiole has long been, hands down, the number one fan favourite character from the series, and is the character whom I get the most fan mail about, the most fan requests for more stories of, and to date, he is the character who’s name single handedly drives the most Google search result traffic to my website- to the tune of over THREE MILLION visitors PER MONTH just for that one search term “Etiole”!!!

  • For those unaware, the Quaraun series started out as fanfiction of several things before going on to be it's own thing (most fanfiction things were removed by 1987, and all fanfiction elements removed completely by 2012; from 1996 to 2012 the series was published daily on FanFiction.net, from 2004 to 2010 on MySpace {back when MySpace was a blogging platform}, and from 2005 to 2013 Squidoo).
  • Over the decades it has featured fanfiction from many things, including: It was a combination fanfiction of

  • Primary among them was the character Lythande by Marion Zimmer Bradley, whom Quaraun’s character is based upon.
  • Before there was Quaraun, there was Lythande by Marion Zimmer Bradly… the FIRST intersex, transgender homeless Gypsy mage, part of The Mists of Avalon series, which spans dozens of books throughout the 1970s & 1980s, all featuring an intersex, female to male mage main character .
  • Lythande started out as a series of short stories in magazines in the 1970s, and was later complied into a collection in the 1980s. After Bradley’s death, several unpublished Lythande stories were found and her granddaughter published “The Complete Lythande” which includes everything she wrote, including the previously unpublished stories, which remain unedited and unfinished.
  • After publishing the first Lythande story, Bradley issued a letter to her fans, that Lythande was without copyright and “open world” and invited fans to write more stories for the series. I was one of the fans who answered this.
  • When the Bradley lawsuits and court cases rocked the literary world a few years later, I unpublished everything featuring Lythande and the world, and changed all characters and world to OC ones, republishing them, in what is now The Quaraun series.
  • For those unfamiliar with Lythande it was the first mass market produced book to feature a transgender main character.
  • Lythande at the time of it’s publication was one of the most controversial, most hated, most boycotted, and most banned book of the era — due to it being the first TRADITIONALY PUBLISHED by one of the “Big Four” publishing houses, to feature a TRANSGENDER main character.
  • Lythande is a lesbian female, who lives in a part Medival, part ancient Persia, part modern space traveling CyberTech world dominated by woman hating men -who are mass murdering females at alarming levels in an attempt to rid the world of the evil that is women. Lesbian women are the primary target in this nightmarish dystopian world where the LGBTQAI+ community is being massacred in a dictator decreed genocide. In order to help her fellow lesbians gain their rights and freedoms, Lythande goes undercover as a man to infiltrate The Blue Star Warriors, a group of male mages who control the world’s magic. She becomes the most powerful mage of all time across all dimensions, but when the leader of The Blue Star Warriors discovers she is a woman, he curses her. The curse forces her to live the rest of her life as a man, including, she is no longer able to have sex as a woman, literally turning into a male with a penis whenever she tries to have sex with her female lover; additional she is cursed with immortally and lives for thousands of years, falling in love with hundreds of women, and never able to be with any of them as a woman…
  • unfortunately… like Firefly, the series remains unfinished, because the author died before she finished writing it, so, we never find out how the series would have ended.
  • My Quaraun books, take that exact same premise and run with it on a full blow ‘What if?”
  • — I do highly recommend you read Lythande, if you want to gain a full ‘lore background” on the lore behind my Quaraun series :
