What is the series about?

It's three god-level planet destroying alien invader Space Elf, Space Faerie, Space Demon wizards, with big global domination plans, whom have invaded 40th century Earth, settled in a lighthouse in Maine, are hellbent on destroying all Humans and taking over the planet, but never getting anything done because they are too busy throwing temper tantrums, having hissy fits, and flinging food, sea slugs, insults, and sexual tension at each other to get around to destroying the planet.

It's slice-of-life survival horror in a post-apocalyptic necromantic dictatorship, told through dysfunctional domestic intimacy between soul-stealing villains who rule the world. Welcome to the spiralling madness of Quaraun’s eldritch, sensory-heavy, character-driven, neurotic, dysfunctional, intimate, sugar-dusted Fae-punk world. This is the hostile, dystopian, necromantic, and hyper-sensory domestic horror of Quaraun’s everyday life with BoomFuzzy (and sometimes GhoulSpawn), in a grim world ruled by undead Faerie warlords where society has collapsed and survival is brutal, intimate, and corrupt, and Humans are often on the menu of UnSeelie Court feasts.

Lens and Light Maintenance

Quaraun stood at the base of the spiral staircase, gazing upward at the daunting height of the lighthouse tower.

The worn stone steps coiled around the inside wall, spiralling toward the top where the massive Fresnel lens perched like a crown jewel. The pale light filtering through the glass cast eerie, wavering patterns across the icy walls. His long, pink silk robes trailed behind him, glimmering as they caught the fractured light.

“Ya gonna clean that thing or stare at it all day?” BoomFuzzy’s voice rumbled from below, carrying the distinct lilt of his Scottish brogue.

The old Phooka was perched on a crate, chewing thoughtfully on a licorice stick, his steampunk goggles pushed up onto his forehead. His long grey dreadlocks hung over his shoulders, and his purple tartan great kilt was hiked up high enough to display more thigh than was strictly necessary.

“It’s no’ gonna polish itself, Quaraun.”

“I am not staring at it,” Quaraun said, though he very clearly had been. He leaned more heavily on his cane, his silver chains jingling softly as he adjusted his balance. His long white jellyfish hair, shimmering like moonlight, slithered around him in lazy coils. “I am assessing it. There is a difference.”

“Aye, well, from down here, it looks a lot like procrastinatin’.”

GhoulSpawn appeared from behind a pile of rusted equipment, clutching a bucket of soapy water in one hand and a rag in the other. His golden fleece glinted under the dim light, and his enormous curling horns nearly scraped the low ceiling. He had tied his hair back in a loose, shaggy ponytail, though several stray locks still dangled over his eyes.

“Dudes, if we don’t clean this thing, the light’s not gonna reach the coastline, and, like, ships are totally gonna crash into the icebergs and stuff.”

Quaraun’s lips curled into a sly smile.

“That would be a shame,” he said sarcastically, glancing down at BoomFuzzy.

BoomFuzzy winked.

“Aye. Such a shame if ships crashed… and we accidentally gathered up all that loot.”

GhoulSpawn’s ears flicked back.

“Are you two hatching evil plots again?”

“Of course we are!” BoomFuzzy chirped cheerfully. “What else would us evil masterminds be doin’?”

GhoulSpawn sighed.

“Dudes, I thought we were trying to give up piracy.”

“Correction, Glinta,” Quaraun answered. “YOU were trying to give up your raging kleptomania. Unicorn and I are perfectly content with out flaws and have no intention of getting rid of them.”

Quaraun climbed the steps toward the lens, his jellyfish-like hair slithering behind him in pink, venomous coils.

“And,” Quaraun continued. “We are not pirates.”

“Really? You charge a keeper’s toll so high that ships try to sneak through, then you turn the light off, and summon sea monsters while BoomFuzzy summons storms. All so you can deliberately crash ships on your beach, so you can loot the spoils. What do you call it if not pirates?”

“We are maritime entrepreneurs.”

“That’s literally just pirates with extra steps,” GhoulSpawn complained.

Quaraun sighed and took a delicate step toward the staircase. His jellyfish hair coiled protectively around his body as he ascended.

“Careful now, Cupcake!” BoomFuzzy called after him. “If ya slip and break yer neck, I ain’t scrapin’ yer jelly arse off the floor!”

“I am capable of walking up stairs.”

“Mm-hmm. Just remember who’s gonna be stuck cleaning that lens alone if ya tumble down, aye?”

Quaraun climbed to the top of the tower, his cane clicking softly on each step. He reached the top of the tower, where the large Fresnel lens loomed before him, a glittering construct of cut glass prisms and brass framework.

Light fractured through it, casting rainbows on the walls. The glass, however, was clouded with a thin film of salt and grime.

“Ugh.” Quaraun wrinkled his nose and drew a pink silk handkerchief from his sleeve. “Glinta, hand me that cloth.”

GhoulSpawn bounded up the steps, surprisingly nimble for someone with hooves, and passed Quaraun the rag.

“Careful, dude. Those prisms are, like, super delicate.”

“I am aware. I have been taking care of this lighthouse for three hundred years now. You have only been here a few months.”

Quaraun reached out and began to polish the glass with slow, careful strokes. The grime lifted under the cloth, revealing the smooth, clear glass beneath. His bionic gloves whirred faintly as the delicate mechanisms adjusted to the fine movements of his crippled fingers.

“Yer missin’ a spot,” BoomFuzzy said, appearing at the top of the staircase. He leaned lazily against the brass railing, his gold plated teeth glinting in the dim light.

“I am not missing a spot,” Quaraun replied.

“Aye, ya are. Right there.” BoomFuzzy pointed with his licorice stick.

Quaraun’s ears twitched with irritation, but he dutifully polished the indicated area. The glass gleamed.

“Looks pretty good,” GhoulSpawn said, peering closely at the lens. His large golden pleco eyes narrowed. “Uh… wait… dudes… I think there’s a crack.”

Quaraun froze.

“Where?”

“There.” GhoulSpawn pointed at a faint spiderweb pattern at the edge of one of the prisms.

Quaraun leaned in, his breath fogging the glass. The crack was small but deep, radiating outward like a frozen lightning bolt.

“I shall have to repair that.”

BoomFuzzy grunted.

“Ya got anythin’ for glass repair?”

“Of course.” Quaraun slid his Rainbow Wand from the folds of his pink robes and adjusted the settings. The white beam clicked into place with a soft hum. “Stand back.”

BoomFuzzy yanked GhoulSpawn out of the way.

“Ya might wanna cover yer eyes, Goat.”

“I’m a sheep.”

GhoulSpawn squinted as Quaraun pressed the wand’s tip to the glass. A brilliant white laser light pulsed through the lens. The crack glowed, then fused together with a soft hiss of heat meeting cold. When the light faded, the glass was smooth and unblemished.

Quaraun stepped back, inspecting his work with a critical eye.

“There.”

“Aye, looks good,” BoomFuzzy said. He sauntered over, looping an arm around Quaraun’s waist and planting a kiss on his cheek. “Now how ‘bout we polish off this job properly with a drink, and a polish of ya arse, eh?”

“After I finish polishing the lens.”

BoomFuzzy groaned.

“Yer no fun.”

“You will thank me when ships stop crashing into the icebergs.”

BoomFuzzy grinned.

“Or when they do, and we’re first on the scene to collect the cargo, aye?”

Quaraun smiled.

“Exactly. The light must be bright to guide ships close to the rocks, before we turn the light out and watch them crash.”

GhoulSpawn buried his face in his hands.

“You guys are so evil.”

“Thank you,” Quaraun said proudly.

“Why is that a good thing?”

“I am the world’s most powerful, most feared, and most evil wizard. A reputation I worked hard to get and plan to keep.”

“You like being a super villian, don’t you?”

“Yes.”

“Uh… dudes?” GhoulSpawn’s eyes widened. He pointed toward the window. “We, uh… we might have other problems.”

Through the frosted glass, the silhouette of a massive zombie whale lumbered through the fog, its rotting flesh barely held together by frozen tendons.

Quaraun’s smile widened.

“Oh. A storm and a sea monster? How delightful.”

“Delightful? How is that delightful?”

“Glinta, I am the Pink Necromancer, and that there is a giant zombie. Do you realize how easy it will be for me to encase it just below the surface, to lay in wait for the next ship that passes and refuses to pay my keeper’s toll?”

“”You’re not seriously going to capture that thing and keep it for a pet are you?”

“Of course! And Unicorn is a Fost Lich. He can harness that storm, trap it in a bottle, to be released on any ships that try to sneak past in the night.”

BoomFuzzy grinned, adjusting his goggles.

“Shall we?”

Quaraun pointed his Rainbow Wand toward the fog.

“We shall.”
