It's slice-of-life survival horror in a post-apocalyptic necromantic dictatorship, told through dysfunctional domestic intimacy between soul-stealing villains who rule the world. Welcome to the spiralling madness of Quaraun’s eldritch, sensory-heavy, character-driven, neurotic, dysfunctional, intimate, sugar-dusted Fae-punk world. This is the hostile, dystopian, necromantic, and hyper-sensory domestic horror of Quaraun’s everyday life with BoomFuzzy (and sometimes GhoulSpawn), in a grim world ruled by undead Faerie warlords where society has collapsed and survival is brutal, intimate, and corrupt, and Humans are often on the menu of UnSeelie Court feasts.

The Storm’s Embrace

The winds howled outside the lighthouse, their eerie scream like a thousand tortured souls. The light from the lighthouse’s massive beacon flashed erratically, struggling against the monstrous tempest crashing against its stone walls.

Waves slammed against the cliffs below, sending spray high into the air, thick with ice and salt. The horizon had long disappeared beneath sheets of rain and roiling clouds.

The storm was a living thing, a creature of pure rage, and it was determined to consume everything in its path.

Inside the lighthouse, Quaraun and GhoulSpawn huddled together by the hearth. The warm glow of the fire was the only light in the otherwise dark and cold stone chamber.

Quaraun was visibly shaking. His long silver jellyfish hair was frayed and stuck to his pale skin in heavy clumps, trembling with the same nerves that wracked his fragile form. His cane lay discarded beside him, and his hand clutched the side of his pink velvet cloak as though the fabric might shield him from the storm outside.

GhoulSpawn’s yellow pleco eyes were wide with unease as he adjusted the woolen blanket around his shoulders. The storm had unsettled him, too. He wasn’t accustomed to the kind of violent weather that tore at the world with such merciless force.

This sort of weather had never existed in the 1970s. The climate of the 40th century was to vastly different. So wildly changed from anything he had known in his time.

“Quaraun, we need to go to the light,” GhoulSpawn stammered, his voice fulled with fear. “It’s not safe here. We need to — “

“No,” Quaraun cut him off, his voice tight. “I cannot bear it. The storm — it calls to me, Glinta. I can hear it. It calls my name. It is too… loud. Too close.”

The air in the lighthouse was thick with tension, the sound of the storm outside seeming to amplify with every second. But it was only when the door burst open, slamming violently against the stone wall, that Quaraun’s nerves snapped.

BoomFuzzy stood in the doorway, soaked to the bone. Being a Lich, that wasn’t hard to do, considering he’d decided to be a glowing blue crystal skeleton today. His hair was a wild, unkempt mass of dreads, dripping with rainwater. His grin was feral, his silver eyes burning with a primal, almost maniacal energy.

“Aye, aye!” he shouted over the wind’s roar, his voice booming with excitement. “The storm’s a wild beast, an’ I cannae wait to dance wi’ it!”

He stepped inside, flinging the door closed with a tremendous crash. His cloak was flapping wildly, as if caught in an invisible whirlwind, and his face was alight with a manic glee that sent a shiver down Quaraun’s spine.

“You,” Quaraun began, his voice trembling with a mixture of dread and disgust. “You are not right. Not right at all. The storm is… a monster. It will destroy us all.”

BoomFuzzy’s grin widened, and he laughed, deep and guttural, his breath fogging the air in thick clouds. He moved closer to Quaraun, grabbing his shoulders and pulling him up.

“That’s the beauty of it, Love! We’re alive! I is back from the dead and I know to enjoy every minute of it. Yis never been dead, ya didne know the lack of fear ya need to have in this world. Life is a blessing, we must enjoy it. I did na enjoy life when I twere alive. And no I back from the dead I certainly going to take advantage of it. It’s chaos, it’s freedom! Do ya feel it? The storm’s calling, JellyElf! Don’t fight it! Don’t be afraid!”

Quaraun froze, his wide blue eyes filled with horror as he stared at BoomFuzzy. The Elf saw so much to fear and he simply could not graspe the joy the Lich felt of having a second chance to live again.

The wind outside howled louder, a deafening wail that rattled the windows and shook the foundations of the lighthouse. He could hear the crash of the waves against the rocks far below, as if the ocean itself were breaking apart.

“You are mad,” Quaraun breathed, his silver hair snapping violently at BoomFuzzy’s face. His own body felt like it was vibrating with the storm, the wild energy filling the air almost suffocating him.

BoomFuzzy only laughed harder, pulling Quaraun towards the door.

“Aye, mad as a bloody hatter, Love! The storm and I, we’re one and the same. Come, come!”

Quaraun’s heart thudded wildly in his chest, his hands shaking as he grasped at the doorframe to steady himself. The wind howled again, sending a crash of thunder that rattled the stone walls.

For a moment, Quaraun hesitated, looking out into the vast darkness beyond, where the storm’s rage was an unstoppable force.

And then he felt it — the cold touch of BoomFuzzy’s fingers digging into his skin, pulling him away from the safety of the hearth. He wanted to scream, to run, but the manic energy in BoomFuzzy’s grasp was overwhelming.

“Don’t you see, Love?” BoomFuzzy whispered, his voice low and intimate despite the chaos around them. “This storm, it’s our spirit. We canna fight it. We can only embrace it.”

Suddenly, BoomFuzzy’s hands were on his face, pulling him into a kiss as the storm raged on. Quaraun’s heart beat erratically in his chest, caught between fear and something darker — something much deeper.

As the storm screamed louder, BoomFuzzy’s wild energy enveloped them both, and for a fleeting moment, the world seemed to spin out of control.

Quaraun trembled, torn between terror and some twisted sense of exhilaration, his mind lost in the chaos of the storm and the madness in BoomFuzzy’s eyes.

Outside, the wind howled louder, as if urging them both to embrace the madness within.

BoomFuzzy pulled away, his smile wide and dangerous.

“Come on, Love! Let’s face this together! Let the storm take us, aye?”

And as they stepped into the wild embrace of the storm, Quaraun found himself not only powerless against the forces of nature, but caught in the magnetic, terrifying pull of BoomFuzzy’s feral madness.
