What is the series about?

It's three god-level planet destroying alien invader Space Elf, Space Faerie, Space Demon wizards, with big global domination plans, whom have invaded 40th century Earth, settled in a lighthouse in Maine, are hellbent on destroying all Humans and taking over the planet, but never getting anything done because they are too busy throwing temper tantrums, having hissy fits, and flinging food, sea slugs, insults, and sexual tension at each other to get around to destroying the planet.

It's slice-of-life survival horror in a post-apocalyptic necromantic dictatorship, told through dysfunctional domestic intimacy between soul-stealing villains who rule the world. Welcome to the spiralling madness of Quaraun’s eldritch, sensory-heavy, character-driven, neurotic, dysfunctional, intimate, sugar-dusted Fae-punk world. This is the hostile, dystopian, necromantic, and hyper-sensory domestic horror of Quaraun’s everyday life with BoomFuzzy (and sometimes GhoulSpawn), in a grim world ruled by undead Faerie warlords where society has collapsed and survival is brutal, intimate, and corrupt, and Humans are often on the menu of UnSeelie Court feasts.

Twilight Rose

“Romance is possible, even in the dusk,” Quaraun said. “But you must let the thorns draw blood first.”

The man stood silent.

“Sit. Or fuck off.”

Quaraun didn’t look up. He was busy boiling honey-wine in a tiny copper kettle, draped in enough pink silk to make a pornographer blush and an executioner nervous. His jellyfish hair curled around his neck like serpents.

Wand on the table.

Knife by the tea.

Bones in a bowl. Real Human bones.

The man sat. Didn’t say thank you. Kept looking around like he expected to die. He should.

Vardo stank of roses and absinthe. Leather, fur pelts, wet silk. And burnt sugar. Always burnt sugar. Always BoomFuzzy’s fudge boiling too long ‘cause the fucker wandered off high again.

“You...uh...really him?” the man asked. Voice tight. Trembled at the corners. “The real Pink Necromancer?”

Quaraun didn’t answer. Just poured tea. Slowly. Pink rosehip and bloodleaf. Something floated. Probably not plant matter. He stirred with a twisted spoon that looked carved from a tooth. His own tooth? Probably. Who knows. He’s done worse.

“You said one card,” the Human said.

“You said you would pay first,” Quaraun replied.

“I got coin.” He tossed a dented tin token on the table. It spun.

Quaraun caught it with two fingers. Examined it. Bit it. It screamed. He nodded. Good coin.

He pulled a single card.

Laid it down. Slow. Precise.

Twilight Rose. Upright.

Quaraun’s pale fingers hovered. Stroked the edge.

The man leaned in.

“What’s that mean?”

“Romance is possible.” Quaraun’s voice went cold. Sweet. Detached. Too calm. “Even now. Even for you. Even in the dusk.”

The man flinched.

“What the fuck’s that supposed to mean?”

Quaraun tilted his head, blinked wide blue eyes with pink pupils. The left one twitched. He didn't blink again. Not for a long time.

“You are not dead yet. She is not dead yet.”

“She’s gone.”

“She is not dead.”

“She left. I fuckin' watched her walk out.”

“Good. That means she still breathes. You mourn a grave not dug.”

“I ain’t mournin’ nothing.”

Quaraun sipped his tea.

“You reek of regret. You cry in silence. You think she will come back if you bleed hard enough.”

The man jumped up, knocked over his chair.

“This is bullshit.”

“Then leave,” Quaraun said. Calm. Cold. “But the threads twist behind you when you walk away.”

“I ain’t gonna get lectured by some freak dressed like a godsdamn whore!”

Quaraun blinked again.

The kettle screamed.

So did the knife. It giggled.

BoomFuzzy kicked open the vardo’s back door, swaggered in with a tray of rosewater fudge squares and wearing nothing but boots and a blood-splattered apron.

“Y’all havin’ a party?” he asked, all cocky teeth and lewd smirk. His grey dreadlocks dripped with steam. His eyes were pale silver. Clouded white from cataracts. Still saw everything. Had AI powered VR goggles for that.

“Your guest is rude,” Quaraun said.

“Ya want me ta geld him?”

“If he speaks again, yes.”

BoomFuzzy dropped the tray on the table. Sat on the counter. Spread his legs like it was an invitation. It probably was. The Unicorn was always horny as fuck.

“You two fuckin’?” the Human spat.

BoomFuzzy let out a slow whistle.

“Now see... that there? That’s a deathwish, my dude.”

Quaraun didn’t react. Just stared at the card.

“Twilight Rose,” he repeated. “She did not leave because of the end. She left because you would not let her begin.”

The man clenched his fists.

“I ain’t here for fuckin’ riddles.”

“You are here to be seen,” Quaraun said. “She never saw you. But I do.”

“I don’t—”

Quaraun stood. Fast. Too fast. Like gravity didn’t matter. His jellyfish hair writhed.

“She begged you. She begged you to change. To see her.”

“I—”

“You were too proud. You mourn love that still wants you. But you would rather die than bend. She waited. She waited until the sky cracked open and still you did not come.”

“I didn’t know how,” the man said. Voice broke. “I ain’t like... good at this.”

“You could have tried. You did not. Now the dusk comes. But twilight is not night. You still have time.”

BoomFuzzy munched a square of fudge.

“Ya got him cryin’. That mean we get ta keep ‘im?”

“Keep?” Quaraun said, distracted.

“Y’know.” BoomFuzzy waggled his eyebrows. “Use him. Wear him. Fill the freezer.”

“I am not hungry.”

BoomFuzzy pouted.

“I is.”

The Human backed toward the door.

Quaraun pointed at the card.

“You leave now, she vanishes. The thread breaks. You cut your own throat in a slow way. By doing nothing. That is how most men die.”

BoomFuzzy laughed.

“Most men die ‘cause dey dumb.”

The man stopped. Glanced back at the card.

“...You think I still got a chance?”

“I do not think.”

"Ain't that the truth!" BoomFuzzy laughed.

Quaraun glared at BoomFuzzy and then glared back at the man again.

“I know.”

“You ain’t... killin’ me?”

“You have already killed yourself. Get out of my sight.”

BoomFuzzy leered.

“Lucky boy. Him got spared.”

“Because love,” Quaraun said. “Is the one sin I still worship. And for some godforsaken reason, she stills this vile bastard and wants him back.”

He sat back down. Sipped his tea. Motioned for BoomFuzzy to bring more fudge.

The man left.

Quaraun exhaled.

“I hate love,” he whispered. “I always have.”

BoomFuzzy licked sugar off his thumb.

“Yis a liar.”

“I know.”

They didn’t speak again.

The kettle boiled dry.
